Brazil Espírito Santo Immigrantes
Chocolate | Nougat | Roasted Peanuts
Origin: Brazil [Espírito Santo, Serrana’s Region]
Process: Semi-Washed
Producers: Various Smallholders
Varietals: Catuai | Caturra
Altitude: 1200 masl
Espirito Santo was once home to sugarcane fields before Brazil declared independence from Portugal in the early 1800s and the fields were abandoned. The Brazilian government divided the land into small parcels and sold them to Italian immigrants, the coffee’s namesake. The immigrants came to grow coffee an took a great deal of pride in their work. To ensure higher crop quality, the farmers never relied on machine pickers and instead handpick cherries when optimally ripe. The mild microclimate of Espirito Santo yields beautiful, approachable coffee and this harvest is no exception.
This coffee was selected for its approachability. It has all of those classic good coffee flavors that are real crowd pleasers but this version will surprise at how clean it is. This is a great example of a delicious Brazilian coffee - chocolatey, sweet, nutty and with ample body that holds up well to either drip or espresso. which is why we selected it to be our current fresh crop omni roasted coffee. It is still light roast but developed slightly longer to allow for more ease and versatility across different brew methods.
